It's that time of year again! The Archers will be auctioning a very special studio visit this year and we're hoping for lots of generous bidders! You'll meet the cast and see them in action as they bring Ambridge to life in the heart of the Mailbox, plus lots more. I'll be filling in more detail on the night itself so stay tuned

Listening to the lunch-time edition I couldn't help smiling at the relationship starting to unfold between Jim and Jazzer, Ambridge's new odd couple!
  • Rosalind Adams (Clarrie) to leave!

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 21/09/2012 11:38:29 by KathyPerks
It's just been made public that Rosalind Adams, who has played Clarrie for the last 25 years, is to step down from the part.

Ooooh nooo! We shall so miss her - although you'll be pleased to know that The Archers production team are re-casting. Ambridge without Clarrie is as unthinkable as bread without honey! Actually Rosalind is the third actor to play Clarrie - there will be more about this in our Christmas issue of The Ambridge Voice.

Re complaints about ArchEnders we're happy to say that tonight's episode is almost entirely devoid of drama, but Gerry is unhappy...

Evil stalks the land! Factory production farming, Tony at the edge of life, stampeding beasts, Kathy silent, Pip unbearable, single-parent mums in the manor house - where is the younger bro' of Olly Sterling? Too many loose ends for my taste so it's time to draw them in. Unleash the zombie hordes from far-away Birmingham just to clear the air. Or revive Alistair's little 'habit' and develop a thread that ties in with overseas gambling syndicates and the village cricket 'fixtures'.'
  • Horns of a dilemma!

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 17/06/2012 12:32:02 by KathyPerks
One of our Archers actors was chatting about men who wear horns (plenty of those in Ambridge - in the Shakespearean sense!) and realised that over the years Eddie Grundy's horns have got shorter! You can check it out herre

Grayson Perry is an Archers fan. "Making pottery is a dirty business. You don’t go to the studio in a nice dress. It’s where you get on with stuff and make a mess and collapse in an armchair and listen to The Archers”.

Several of you have made comments about the Forum in the 'Re Come Back Denny' thread in Archers Discussion.

The idea we had was that anyone who wished could make a comment on any page in the site and that they wouldn't have to register to do so. This has had partial success for the Forum because the process is more complicated encorporating that idea as well as the usual Message Board procedure.

Someone has suggested an updated post marker, which we'll look into and we also feel that we can make the message lay-out more friendly. Captcha was set up in response to spammers trying to squat the site and is a sign of the times. By all means point us in the direction of effective alternatives.

Let us have your suggestions too if you would like to share them

  • Captcha

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 04/02/2012 16:03:07 by KathyPerks
Someone asked why they had to type the two Captcha words after logging in and making a comment

It's a method to prevent automated spam as you have to type in the words manually.

The site was flooded with spam messages selling goods and we had to take steps to control this. Such a shame. It's also why comments have to be pre-moderated.

These are methods increasingly used by social and commercial sites as spammers become evermore ingenious.

I am once again thoroughly enjoying my new copy of Who's who, but wonder why the Archer's family tree has not been updated. I have spotted at least 4 omissions or errors. Sorry to be pedantic but thought I should point them out. Have other listeners noticed any?
  • Strike hits Archers!

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 18/01/2012 14:58:38 by KathyPerks
One of my colleagues emailed me with the news that they were ready act but there was no-one to record them for posterity! The 24 hour strike protesting against the removal of key programmes from BBC Birmingham to Bristol is under way and it has taken a few casualties. Archers Addicts needn't fear 'though. We've battled through snow storms and heat-waves,railway strikes and bomb threats, and nothing has interfered with the smooth running of events in Ambridge for the listener; I doubt we'll start now!
  • Whoops!

I'm so sorry. A forum message was duplicated and the moderator's became digitally disadvantaged and deleted both messages!! We think it was from Archersfan (?) and it was about a 90 minute extended Omnibus. Please post the message again and I promise to ensure it doesn't slip the net again. It can only be described as a 'Grundy' moment
