  • Lillian at Gloucester guildhall

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 26/04/2013 22:15:19 by Liz
Hi all. I'm new to this forum but a long time Archers fan. Sunny Ormonde is coming to gloucester guildhall on 22nd June. Just wondered if anyone else will be going. I've not long moved back to gloucester and don't know anyone who is an avid listener like me!

But are there usually any AA event's at the Southport flower show ?
And is there anything planned there for this year.
If not what will be the nearest The Archers event to Liverpool

  • Fun at Pershore

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 28/08/2012 10:11:36 by Vicky
It was great fun at Pershore Plum Festival yesterday, especially as the predicted downpours didn't materialise. Heard Eddie (Trevor Harrison) open the festivites by reciting his Ode to the Plum (has he been taking lessons from Bert?) Kathy (Hedli Niklaus)forgot her worries about Jamie for awhile, and was busy selling lots of Archers goodies - as well as keeping an eye on Eddie in case he was tempted by the adjacent cider stall! Thanks all at AA for making a lovely day out even better. My magnetic notepad is already being used!
  • Ambridge at the Olympics?

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 12/06/2012 21:38:18 by Vicky
I've been reading about the Olympics Opening ceremony, there's going to be fields and farms - with real animals - a village green with cricketers, hills and a river. Apparently it's meant to be 'a snapshot of country life'. Perhaps the athletes will parade to Barwick Green?!

  • Yes, Prime Minister

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 11/03/2012 11:15:51 by Hamster
I've got tickets to see the touring performance of Yes, Prime Minister starring some bloke called Graham Seed.

Has anyone been yet and what did you think?
The general reviews have been favourable but I wondered if any informed Archers Appreciators had seen it and what they thought.

Once I have been,I will naturally pass a comment (or two).

I was wondering (hopefully) if there are any Archers Addicts events planned for this year? Is there any possibility of having another convention or are there any plans for Archers Addicts evenings at the BBC Studios at Mailbox in Birmingham?

Following on from the recent Celebrity Mastermind when Jacqui Smith answered questions about The Archers from next weeks Radio times it looks if we have another chance to "pit our wits" with our knowlwdge about The Archers on an edition of the regular Mastermind programmes scheduled for Friday 20 Janusry when one of the contestants will be answering questions about "The Archers from 1980 to the present day".

  • Ambridge Voice and Antique Roadshow

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 23/09/2011 19:04:11 by Vicky
When our post arrived today (at 3.35pm would you believe?) I wasn't expecting much, so it was a lovely surprise when it contained the latest Ambridge Voice. Even better, there was a smashing gift for my memories of being an Archers Addict. (Thank you all so much AA) Another reason I'm posting is that, as well as the usual pot-pourri of interesting contents, there's a fabulous poem from our webboard's Portia which is brilliant! Love it Portia. So thanks AA for both the gift and the fascinating reading.

I'm also posting to say that this Sunday's Antiques Roadshow (BBC1 8pm) is the one featuring KP with her Archers memorabilia.

A chance to hear (and see) Vicky as you've never seen her before. She's playing the role of The Countess in The Watermill Theatre's production of The Marriage of Figaro (the play, not the opera!)If the weather's good, the last scenes are played in the theatre's beautiful gardens next to the river Lambourn in the little village of Bagnor, just outside Newbury. There's photos and more information on the website http://www.watermill.org.uk/the_marriage_of_figaro.html

Charles Collingwood is selling a signed copy of the very first episode of The Archers. He bought it for £20 and Sotheby's values it at £3,500. He wants some help towards the bills for his daughter's wedding - well, this may help with a couple of bottles of champagne or so!

Here's wishing William and Kate - or Catherine as she's to be known - lots of happiness and good luck.

I'll be glued to my tv set tomorrow, and for once, will insist on having complete charge of the remote control!

Please could I have a ticket for the recording of the programme at the village Hall?

Seriously, is there going to be a special recording of Gardners Question Time involving some of the cast members as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations this year where Archers Addicts can come and watch the recording?

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 28/01/2011 16:32:38 by Vicky
Anyone hear this? The 60th Anniversary episode was one of the topics. Radio 4 Controller, Gwyneth Williams and Editor Vanessa Whitburn were interviewed, together with a couple of fans. Unfortunately there was quite a lot of time taken up with a tour of the studio!

It's on Listen Again and is repeated Sunday at 8pm. on Radio 4.

  • Whatever will they think up next!

Posted over 14 days ago.  Added 12/01/2011 21:34:43 by anon

I've just come across this on the Mustardland blog board.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thearchers/

"We're very aware of what the character of Nigel Pargetter meant to many listeners, and how much they will miss him.

Between 4pm and 8pm tomorrow (13 Jan), we'll be running an online event here on The Archers blog. This will coincide with the episode featuring Nigel's funeral. We'll be sharing moments from the character's history, and inviting listeners to contribute their own memories and tributes.

It will be a sort of online Book of Condolences, a permanent tribute to this much-loved character and to Graham Seed, the actor who played him.

It will take a similar form to the live online coverage of the 60th anniversary day, during which Radio 7 broadcast classic episodes, and interviews with current cast and production staff.

Do please join us as we say goodbye to Nigel."

This looks like PR damage control to me. Well meaning but somewhat off the mark.
