'Poor Pat' is thinking of a way forward when all avenues seem closed. Why not offer the lure of inheriting the farm? 'Rich' is, afterall, the only son of her eldest son. Sharon and Eamon (?) sound like the sort of people who might go for that (I saw some awful film once about an Irish chap getting very bothered about owning a field in some bog and got the distinct impression it means a lot to them) worth a try anyway.
Tom and Helen would soon get used to the idea, rather like we have all welcomed sharing our hospitals housing and schools with those nice people from Poland and elsewhere who were welcomed into our 'family' when Dear Tony agreed to EU enlargement. At least our young graduates no longer have to look for work, there are no jobs left.
Look on the bright side all. PCCMember.

PCCMember, I think I love you.

"An Irish chap getting very bothered about owning a field in some bog"... yes, that's going to be getting me giggling all morning.

And yes, I think you're right. Pat snubbed Sharon badly the day of John's funeral? What better revenge could there be than "Rich" inheriting Bridge Farm under the furious noses of Helen and Tom?

I don't remember the Sharon affair at all - was it a big storyline at the time?

I have looked again at my original comment and I think it's a bit off about our cousins from the emerald isle. I would like to make it clear that I think they're a wonderful lot of people. It is true that land ownership means a lot to them, but that will be shown to be true for Helen and Tom too.
I think Helen will fight like anything for Henry's inheritance, should be fun!
