When I first heard about AA twenty odd years ago….I thought it could only be for a few crack pot Archer’s listeners who clearly had too much time on their hands and who had nothing better to do!!! (Sorry all!!!)

Twenty two years later and here we are…-…AA (and me!!) have come a long way since then!!! AA lets me indulge in all things Ambridge – I can read books about the characters I know and love so well and autobiographies about the wonderful actors who play some of them, I can show the world I’m an AA with the calendar and mug that sit on my desk, I’m kept updated with things that may interest me- plays or other performances, I can read and laugh at that blog and share podcasts and PM’s with fellow AA’s, I can look forward to receiving my AV, I can read catch up threads when a long way from home and I can laugh out loud at some forum posts, rage at others or tearfully read others when sad events happen in real life as well as in Ambridge. Over twenty two fabulous years AA has only ever enhanced my Archers listening – even when there have been some difficult moments and storylines that have, at times, made harrowing listening.

Above all, AA gives me some light relief at the end of a long, hard day, some entertainment, some relaxation, a bit of fun and a few new friends along the way! Far from being one of those crack pot fans I only thought AA could possibly be for – I’m now one of it’s most loyal, passionate and regular users!! Archer’s listeners are a unique group – funny, diverse, characterful, from all walks of life, all different ages and as I have realised via this site, they live all over the world. I’m proud to be one of them and it’s fabulous to belong to AA as it joins me with them!

Thanks to all at AAHQ who make all this possible through their hard work, determination and perseverance through troubled times and of course to Hedli, co-founder and MD (who doesn’t always get the recognition she deserves) for starting it all in the first place!..….long may it continue…..here’s to twenty two more!!!

    Happy Birthday,

    Cheers,
    Portia! x

I'd also clocked this special date on my Archers calendar and identify with everything you say Portia - and I love the way you've said it. AA was a little over a year old when I joined, I never thought I'd still be part of this lovely Archers family all these years later. So Happy 22nd Birthday AA! And I echo Kate in saying here's to many more addicted years.

I've been helped by AA over the years too. It's so brave of you Portia to come out and say it. 'Hats off' to you.

    Portia, what a great post!
I joined soon after AA started and I can't believe it's 22 years ago.
Here's to many more addicted years!
