It's just been made public that Rosalind Adams, who has played Clarrie for the last 25 years, is to step down from the part.

Ooooh nooo! We shall so miss her - although you'll be pleased to know that The Archers production team are re-casting. Ambridge without Clarrie is as unthinkable as bread without honey! Actually Rosalind is the third actor to play Clarrie - there will be more about this in our Christmas issue of The Ambridge Voice.

Rosalind Adams will literally be a hard acto follow, she is wonderful in the part of the lovely, practical, warm-hearted, long-suffering Clarrie. I am also soooo glad that the part of Clarrie is not being written out. The Grundys all need Clarrie, AMBRIDGE needs Clarrie!

Quite right - joeybettany - Ambridge without dear old Clarrie would be absolutely unthinkable! I've laughed with Clarrie, cried with Clarrie, felt her pain at sonme of the events in her life and felt her sheer joy at others over the years. She's been brilliantly played by Rosalind Adams- who I was astounded to read was 68years old in real life!! Amazing - hope she enjoys a fabulous retirement!

Is this character the most re-cast part in the archers. I know there were several Dans in the past. I know that if anyone knows KP will!

And I trust, Portia, that you also railed at Clarrie when her deceit and thoughtlessness almost destroyed Tony and Pat's business.

Yes - CaptainSwing- I absolutely did ....but there was never any malicious intent on Clarrie's part - And if I remember she was mortified at the results of her actions - went off by herself and maybe contemplated who knows what and paid for it with her job, her reputation and the end of her long friendship with Pat.

Rosalind has been a great Clarrie and will be missed but I'm sure we all wish her well as she spends more time with her family.
I'm pleased the part is being re-cast, the Grundy family need the matriarch and Emma and Nic are not ready to carry that mantle yet (if they ever will be).

"and paid for it with her job, her reputation and the end of her long friendship with Pat"....all of which have now been miraculously restored! It seems that even lieing to your boss is a forgiveable offence in the Ambridge job market.

Well of course it has Captain Swing ....it is after all Ambridge and not real life. Disbelief and fantasy are the whole reason for listening!
