    Hello,

My name is Edward Holland and I'm investigating my Great Uncle.

His name was Bill Payne and I was told
he played Ned Larkin on the Archers.

I can find little to almost no information about Bill Payne/Ned Larkin

Any information you can tell me about
Bill Payne/Ned Larkin would be amazing.

I live in Canada and was unaware of my
    Uncle's connection to the show.

can you send any info on Bill Payne
to my email address please at
    edward.holland@gmail.com

thank you for your time and effort,
    Edward

Ned Larkin was a very popular character, and they still talked about Bill Payne in the fish and chip shop when we moved to Stratford upon Avon thirty years ago. He was a great character off air as well and used to keep his cheque payments, never paying them into the bank - finally the BBC got wise to him and sorted it out or he would have lost a lot of money.

It would be worth your while checking EBay for The Book of The Archers and The Archers Encyclopaedia, for information about Ned Larkin. Norman Painting's, autobiography, 'Forever Ambridge', also mentions him

    Good luck with your research

    Hi Edward,
I was listening to the Vintage archers episode: The Christmas collection and there is a scene with Tom Forest in the pub where you here Ned Larkin speak if only a few lines. It gives you a flavour of the Archers when he was in it. The epsiodes are available reasonably to download from iTunes and audio go, should you wish to listen.
    Hope it might help
    Paul
