Mike bumps into Lilian, who tells him that she’s heard about the baby. Lilian says she’s more than happy to help if there’s anything she can do.
Mike suspects that Eddie has been avoiding him since finding out that the baby has Down’s syndrome. He’s also still concerned that he is just too old to be a father. Roy thinks that Mike will make a fantastic dad and promises that he and Hayley will help out with the baby.
Eddie apologises to Mike for avoiding him. Eddie explains that, as Joe is a bit of a dinosaur, he was worried that he might say the wrong thing if they met. Eddie offers to help in any way that he can, and Mike is much happier.
As Darrell is still working at the Walters’ house, Lilian is curious as to why the work is taking so long. Darrell is evasive about the job, but does reveal that he will be working on a new project - restoring a church - alongside his work at Amside. Lilian is stunned to hear that Darrell’s new boss will be Paul Morgan.
Later on, at the Dower House, Lilian tries to persuade Matt to move Darrell away from the Walters. She thinks he should be working on their priority property on Borchester Road. Matt eventually agrees to move Darrell on Monday.
