Adam and Ian are gossiping in the hot tub about reported sightings of the mysterious creature of Ambridge. Brian calls round to check on Adam, admitting he had them all very worried indeed. Brian insists Adam must take as much time off as he needs, assuring him that the farm is under control. With two spare tickets for the test match in a fortnight, Brian wonders whether Adam and Ian would like to go. David calls round with the good news that the police have picked up the men who attacked Adam.

Tom asks Pip if she’d be interested in helping Brenda with Gourmet Grills. Pip’s prepared to consider it if Tom makes her a reasonable offer. Dismayed, Ruth’s concerned that Pip’s already busy and it would surely clash with her shifts at the Orangery. Pip reassures her it’s just weekends and bank holidays, and it won’t interfere with her college work. Pip was considering moving on from Lower Loxley anyway and Tom’s made her a decent offer, so she’d be getting more money.

Brian mentioned to David that Amy has been staying with Alice. Curious, David tells Ruth that Brian didn’t seem to know why, but Amy still hasn’t gone home.
