Jill seems preoccupied during her shift at the shop. Matt attempts conversation, but it barely registers.
Ruth informs Usha they’ve had to tell Jill about the attacks at Brookfield. Usha’s full of admiration for Ruth and David. She thinks they’re doing the right thing and advises Ruth to stick it out. Ruth isn’t so sure... Usha is sad that Amy didn’t acknowledge her birthday. Ruth thinks Amy’s being silly, but Usha’s worried that Amy will leave home before they’ve had a chance to make things right. Usha feels it might be her fault.
Lynda is looking out for fledgling peregrines. Kenton spots the birds, and they watch them fly before going into the fete committee meeting. As chair, Lynda is as keen as ever to lead proceedings. She and Kenton vie for attention over ideas for the day. However, when Lynda asks Kenton for his ideas on sporting activities, he makes an excuse and leaves. He soon reappears miraculously furnished with so many suggestions that the item has to be postponed until the next meeting.
Jill tells Kenton her intention to pay for him and Jolene to fly to New Zealand. Family is what’s important, not money, and she’s only too glad to help.
