Ruairi offers to weed people’s gardens in order to earn some money. Lilian’s intrigued, but when Ruairi declares he’s saving up for one of Eddie’s dogs - of which Jennifer thoroughly disapproves - Lilian’s happy to support him. She doubles his wage and even adds a bonus, then suggests that the dog should be put on a plinth in Jennifer’s garden. While a delighted Ruairi goes off to phone Eddie, the mischievous Lilian comments to Peggy that she’d give anything to be there when the dog is installed at Home Farm.

Susan and Emma are discussing the community games when Tracy interrupts them with the news that Keith has been arrested. Susan thinks it’s terrible, but Emma’s more circumspect. When she expresses doubts as to Keith’s innocence, it dawns on Tracy that it was Emma who tipped off the police. Tracy can’t believe that Emma saw him at the farm, but Emma’s adamant she did. A distraught Susan finds herself torn between loyalty to her daughter and her sister. She encourages Emma to admit that she could be wrong, but Emma refuses to back down. Tracy tells them that Keith has been released on bail before accusing Emma of stitching up her own family. Emma retorts that Keith is weak - as bad as Clive. Tracy bites back at Emma, and Emma asks her to leave.
