  Well I think David should have kept his mouth shut. There was no need for him to unburden his guilt, in fact it was selfish. He may feel a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, but he's now laden Elizabeth with remorse and further grief. There are times when silence is golden and this was surely one of them. Like an errant partner confessing years later to an affair, the wrongdoer may feel better, but it's mighty painful for the wronged.

  This recent rift between Lizzy and David has now reminded me how cross I was that poor Nigel was killed off. It was a pointless piece of script writing that I regret ever having taken place. Bring back Nigel - the Archers is lost without him.

  I was actually reduced to tears when Elizabeth turned against David when he confessed to her about the accident. I cried when Nigel got killed and was just getting over it when this happened. I am NOT the sort of person to shed tears over films and things normally but I have been listening to the Archers for so long that I feel I know them. Please, please, please let Elizabeth forgive David and make it up or I shall have to stop listening as I'm finding the program so stressful and depressing.

  Today I accidentally heard the theme music and realised not only had I not heard the Archers for some weeks, but that I hadn't missed it. But anyway, I thought I'd give it a go. O-o-o-h good grief!!!! (or rather NOT GOOD) It's like groundhog day, round again, raking over the same ashes!!! What's up, editorial team? Another pathetic attempt to drag up the drooping audience figures??? FOR GOODNESS SAKE, isn't there enough doom, gloom and depression out here in the real world - where most of us do exist??? Like RhonieH I find the current editorial 'decisions' preposterous and unpalatable. This is supposed to be entertainment!!!!!

  It may have been better for everyone if he HAD kept his mouth shut. Both David and Elizabeth were beginning to move on but are now back to square one. Hopefully Elizabeth will come to realise that although David was partly to blame for persuading, dare I say a rather weak Nigel to go up Nigel could have said no. After all, David didn't push him off the flippin' roof did he? Perhaps Nigel would have been better keeping his mind on what he was doing rather than prattling on artlessly about 'Mummy' and 'Daddy'. One thing's for sure - Nigel would have hated to think that his demise caused this awful rift between his darling Lizzie-o and his best mate. Lizzie's in shock at the moment but perhaps she will undrstand this eventually and realise the awful strain it may put on her children's relationship with the rest of the Archer clan. I must say that I find this a gripping story line. Chalet School Girl

  Although David confessed his guilt he didn't actually say he'd 'goaded' or 'taunted' Nigel did he? We've now heard Elizabeth using these words, but as far as we the listeners are concerned, David merely stated that he'd told Nigel he would rather take the banner down sooner than later. This isn't helping with the credibility of Elizabeth's somewhat OTT reaction. Does she know what David said re 'man or mouse' or not?

  Oh well, here we go again. We now have to listen to the shrew Elizabeth for weeks on end. Frankly, she gets on my nerves. Does she not think that precious Nigel could have said 'No' to David? If it was me I would think 'Well, Nigel was impetuous (which he was) and it is half a dozen of one and six of the other here'. To say David was 'to blame' is horrible. Should I say it? I think Elizabeth was a spoiled br-t anyway. So there!! Ya boo!

  Seen this on the BBC message board. It is the scriptwriters' response to queries there about Elizabeth's use of the word 'taunting'. "This is our reading of the situation. David implies to Elizabeth that Nigel was reluctant to go on the roof, when he tells her the story. By Sunday Elizabeth, believing David to be the one to blame for Nigel's death, has exaggerated what she has heard, in her grief. She has imagined the scene in the intervening time and cast David in the role of forcing the reluctant Nigel on to the roof so she has someone to blame and can also believe that Nigel was blameless." So there you are. It was either a continuity error or we should have imagined what Elizabeth imagined!

  How I SO agree with Rupertsmum about Elizabeth. OK I know ii's only a story line, but, it makes me so angry listening to her ( well acted ) So selfish, everyone running around after her when Nigel was killed. How pathetic.!! You jnow ehen you.ve been thro' it yourself that you have to stop putting on other people and just sort yourself out. Please make it up with David. Or does she want his "death" on her concience?

  The mentally limited David cannot bear to leave well alone, and 'confesses' with entirely predictable results from his unbalanced sister, who has never much liked him anyway.

  Teflon-coated David is about due his come uppance. He's so obtuse and smug he's dangerous. First his ego-boosting dalliance with his former fiancee nearly drives his long-suffering wife to adultery (which he gets miffy about) then his "man or mouse" dare drives his brother in law to risk his life! Does he never think about the consequence of his actions?
