Elizabeth gladly welcomes Roy to Lower Loxley where he soon makes a positive contribution. Roy suggests they ask a stylish milliner to judge the Easter bonnet competition. As a friend of Caroline’s she’s sure to be reliable, and Roy thinks she would pull in a good crowd.

Kenton and Jolene have no regrets about getting together, but they agree that Jamie is suffering as a result. Jolene is confidant they can rescue the situation, but Kenton rues the fact Jamie is the second child he’s failed. Fallon asks Kenton about Holly, and Kenton is forced to admit he had a fling, but swears it was after he moved out of April Cottage. Kenton insists he wouldn’t hurt Jolene for the world. Fallon empathises with Jamie, and Kenton wishes he could find a way to get through to him. He asks for Fallon’s help.

David and Ruth are facing problems with the herd. Two of the dung tests have proved positive for Johne’s disease, so Alistair needs to carry out blood tests to identify the infected cows. Ruth hopes David will get on top of things now he’s no longer needed at Lower Loxley, but David still wants to check on Elizabeth. Ruth doesn’t think fussing her will help, arguing she needs him now, on the farm. David argues Elizabeth will always need him, but Ruth tells him it’s time to move on.
