Nic helps Will to cut back some shrubbery in preparation for the shoot on Wednesday. She tells him how pleased Clarrie was to hear that Friday’s dinner-dance went without a drama. Will still wishes they hadn’t been stuck with Ed and Emma all evening. Nic shows Will the pashmina she bought for Clarrie for Christmas. She then tentatively broaches the subject of Christmas Day, suggesting the whole family spends it together at Keeper’s Cottage. A reluctant Will refuses to commit.
Clarrie is disgusted by Nathan Booth’s plot to fix race night by getting hold of a list of winners. However, she is not convinced by Eddie’s plan to teach him a lesson. She wishes Eddie would join her at St Stephen’s but Eddie can’t be persuaded as he’s off to do a car boot sale instead.
Ex-soldier Des Penwell gives a talk at St Stephen’s about his operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The speech is well received and Clarrie finds it particularly thought provoking. It redoubles her determination to stop Nathan Booth from taking advantage of the British Legion. Later on, Clarrie tells Eddie she hopes he and Jazzer sting Nathan good and hard.
