Hayley arrived in Ambridge in 1995, looking for John Archer. For a while, it looked as if she would settle down with John, and she began putting down roots in Ambridge. She’s a qualified nursery nurse, and she nannies for local mums and helps out at the playgroup. Her relationship with John ended when he tried to juggle seeing her and his former girlfriend Sharon Richards at the same time. They were on the point of being reunited when John tragically died in a farming accident. Hayley then joined forces with Tom Archer to develop John’s pork business, but this led to ructions with Tom’s sister Helen.
Hayley married Roy Tucker in 2001 and looks after Phoebe, his daughter by Kate Aldridge. Occasional swift visits from Phoebe's mother, Kate Madikane, have interrupted a fairly peaceful life. They live with Mike Tucker at Nightingale Farm and have been a great support to him after Betty's death in 2005. Now however they are on the move and want a home of their own for Phoebe and also the children they hope to have together.
Changes are on the way for Hayley and it remains to be seen as to whether her dreams of a child of her own come true.
