Shula and her twin, Kenton, were born in 1958. She attended Borchester Grammar School, and there was a time when it looked as if she might become a professional show jumper. However she started work as office junior with Borchester estate agents Rodway & Watson.
In 1980, Shula met a promising young local solicitor, Mark Hebden. After a lengthy and intermittent courtship they were married in 1985. Both were desperate to start a family, but Shula failed to conceive until 1990, when initial hopes were dashed by the discovery that the pregnancy was ectopic, and would have to be terminated. They then decided to try in vitro fertilisation, but despite one short-lived pregnancy Shula seemed destined never to have a baby.
On 17th February 1994, Mark was killed when he swerved his car to avoid an accident and hit a tree. One week later, Shula discovered that she was pregnant. Luckily, the pregnancy proceeded smoothly, and Daniel was born in November 1994. Shula was slow to return to the dating game, but eventually she met and married Alistair Lloyd who formally adopted Daniel.
Although she is a qualified chartered surveyor, Shula returned to her first love and bought The Stables from her aunt, Christine Barford, where the family now live. Alistair was accused of handling drugs and eventually his partner, Theo, was discovered to be the culprit.
The Lloyds have decided to set up an office at The Stables so that Alistair can run the practice from there. Daniel's problems at school seem to have calmed down as has his health.
Looking after Kenton's daughter Meriel has put a strain on sisterly love and Shula was pleased when he went back to New Zealand to return Merry to her mother. She's sympathetic towards Kathy who was also put upon, and is unsure how happy her brother is ever going to be
