Eddie Grundy
Second son of Joe Grundy, Eddie was born in 1951. He didn’t enjoy school, and went to work for Hollerton Plant Hire in 1977. However, he was sacked for fiddling and was forced to work for his father for a mere thirty pounds a week. But this didn’t stop him dreaming of becoming a Country and Western star, or stop him wooing Dolly Treadgold. However, she proved to be too flighty for Eddie, and he called off the wedding with one day to spare.

He met Clarrie Larkin while he was doing some work on Woodbine Cottage, and they married in 1981 after she paid off the debts which resulted from the demo tape he recorded with Jolene Rogers. Since then, the Grundys have gone from one financial crisis to another.

Although Eddie fancies himself as a jack-of-all-trades, his numerous get-rich-quick schemes are usually doomed to failure. Things came to a head when the Grundys went bankrupt. Eddie felt a failure and became increasingly bitter as he has witnessed his family’s distress. Meanwhile Clarrie was worn to a shred trying to find different ways to help, and Joe went into a decline.

Their return to Ambridge has meant a happier time for Eddie. However 2004 saw him nearly in jail for selling contaminated meat, while he continues to worry about Ed who ressembles his father far too much for comfort!

What with potting rabbits, racing ferrets and selling dubious garden ornaments he doesn’t have much time to wonder why it all went so horribly wrong.

Actor: Trevor Harrison
