26 FestivalTasters for 23-28 June 2013

It’s festival time in Ambridge – so don your wellies and pitch your tent and join in with the excitement in the village this week …

Mike is nervous and Brenda is feeling awkward but nothing can dampen Vicky’s spirits as the family and their friends come together to celebrate Bethany’s Christening.  Josh is over egging the pudding with ambitious plans to celebrate his involvement in the hen business.  Meanwhile over at Bridge Farm the herd sale is making everyone a bit pensive but Tom thinks they should rejoice a new beginning…will anything be the same again?

Elsewhere in Ambridge…

Pip is having her own fiesta, but poor old Caroline is having a carnival of another sort what with low bookings and a problem guest. The flower festival is starting to take shape but will it be a fete a compiles or will it rain on someone’s parade? ….get ready to make merry – It’s The Archers!

Get in the festival spirit on Friday – something for everyone laughs, tears and red faces!

Ambridge is full of flowers this week, Helen’s new friendship blossoms, Lilian wilts and Brenda is cast into the shade…

Jazzer’s been up the beanstalk and has some tales to tell the Grundys, Clarrie wants first prize for her saintly flower display, Matt is a Tiger Lily while Lilian has become more of a Bleeding Heart. Lilies abound at Paul’s funeral of course. Will Celia be there?

Elsewhere in Ambridge…

Brenda gets no bouquets, nor does Tom, as Tony is put out by his budding relationship with Brian. Bethany is going to be as fresh as a daisy for her christening but when it comes to sheep shearing who will fade first, Jazzer, Ed or Jamie? Darrell is rather like bindweed, try as it may Ambridge can’t quite shake him off! Rob is growing on us all but especially Helen, and he’s a dab hand with the little flower that is Henry. Has this put you in the mood to develop your own water feature? (If so contact Eddie Grundy at Keepers Cottage, Ambridge). Either way, let your garden grow…. It’s The Archers!

Sunday:            Flower whence came thy dazzling hue?
Monday:
A fragile flower
Tuesday:        A weed is an unloved flower
Wednesday:
A flower cannot blossom without sunshine
Thursday:
Criticism: That fine flower of personal expression
Friday:
Love is a sweet flower

Fragrant: none of them really
Stinkers:
quite a few

24 food

Tasters for 9-14th June 2013

Jazzer all but sings for his supper this week, but before you reach for seconds, who has an appetite and who is full to the brim?

George has developed a new appetite for religion recently and trips to St Stephens have given him food for thought. Emma’s doesn’t think it’s the right path for him, but it’s all a matter of taste. Despite her reservations, Emma also heads to church, but in order to get closer to Clarrie rather than God. Let’s hope she gets her just desserts!

Elsewhere in Ambridge…

What do you cook a head chef? Rob is in a quandary and, as the new guy in town, he’s got a lot to learn. Hopefully a helpful villager will guide him on his way… Ed wants Jazzer’s head on a platter, but all will be well if Jamie steps up to the plate… Meanwhile, Matt has a taste for the truth this week, but he may well go hungry if Lilian won’t oblige… Although some say revenge is a dish best served cold, Jennifer, queen of the kitchen, is on a diet. Frankly she’s got too much on her plate to concern herself with petty grievances. It sure is tasty… It’s The Archers!

Sunday: Lilian’s put to the test
Monday: Jim to the rescue!
Tuesday: A sad farewell
Wednesday: Emma sharpens her elbows
Thursday: Helen helps out
Friday: Jazzer finds food for thought

Hungry for more: Elona, Jazzer
Full to the brim:
Lilian’s lost her appetite

23 end

Tasters for 2nd-7th June 2013

The folk of Ambridge start at the very beginning this week (it’s a very good place to start), but while opportunities arise for some, for others, good things must come to an end…

Elona makes her exit this week, forsaking Ambridge for pastures new. While Elona ties up loose ends, Peggy ponders the future, and Jennifer is at her wit’s end finding someone to fill Elona’s impeccable shoes. Jennifer reserves the rest of her time to ruminate over her standoff with Jim. Afeared he’ll never hear the end of it, Brian reminds his loyal wife that a few critical words really aren’t the end of the world. Meanwhile, Rob hits a dead end in the recruitment stakes. Bolstered by his recent triumph at the single wicket, we thought there was nothing Rob couldn’t do – let’s hope this doesn’t put an end to his promising career as Expert of Everything.

Elsewhere in Ambridge…

While Josh gets stuck in to his new business enterprise, the end is in sight for Freddie’s extra tuition. Pip’s wait comes to an end as she gets her results – let’s hope she doesn’t come to a sticky end with Ruth and David! Praying for Lilian’s relationship with Paul to come to end, Matt’s fast approaching the end of his tether. With a new beginning for him and his pusscat in mind, it could be quite a finale. They say all’s well that ends well, but what if it all ends in tears?… It’s The Archers!

Sunday: Jennifer boycotts the book club
Monday: Rob does a runner
Tuesday: A result for Ruth
Wednesday: Jim backs Jazzer
Thursday: A dire discovery for Darrell
Friday: Peggy ponders the possibilities

New beginnings: Rob, Brian & Borchester Land Dairy
The end of the road:
Lilian and Paul?
